document.querySelector('button').addEventListener('click', handleClick);

When you click the button, the browser logs the event object to the console.

Common Properties of the Event Object

Here are some common properties you'll find on the event object:

  • event.type: This property returns the type of the event (like 'click', 'mouseover', etc).
  • event.target: This property returns the element that triggered the event.
  • event.currentTarget: This property returns the element that the event listener is attached to.

  • Use event.preventDefault() to stop the default action of an event from happening.
